Here's the initial sample of the MSI MS-8904 card based on the GeForce FX GPU using Samsung K4N26323AE-GC20
GDDR-II chips. Although GDDR-II runs on 1.8V VDDQ but VDD is still at 2.5V and data rate is at 1GB/s therefore the
heat generated from memory chips might be too hot. As such NVIDIA has designed the reference cooler in the way
that the memory chips are covered with copper heat spreader not for nice look but GDDR-II really need them to
dissipate heat well. Sources revealed that the GDDR-II may not ready for mobile platform yet as the heat issues are
still not resolved therefore we should not see a mobile version of the GeForce FX anywhere soon. Also retail cards
based on GeForce FX may be as late as March-April.

Part of an interview with Scott Thirwell, Marketing Director, ABIT TAIWAN

Our OTES II, designed for nVIDIA's NV30 is a totally different design than the OTES designed for the Ti4200 line.
The OTES II was specifically designed for the NV30 and takes a radically different form in terms of air intake and
outflow. ABIT's OTES brought real and effective heat pipe technology to VGA Cards and the OTES II takes this
original OTES heat pipe technology and transforms the way we think about air flow and heat pipes on a VGA Card.

The rumour that Hercules and Nvidia were getting back together was just that, a rumour, with the recent leak of an R350
watercooled card, it would appear that they will continue to partner ATi.
The FX will be the first Nvidia powered card I will have owned not made by Hercules (American or French owned).
This picture is what a Hercules 3D Prophet FX 5800 Ultra may well have looked like, and yes I know the PCB should be blue.

Nvidia is said to have decided to handle all the design and production of new GeForce FX (NV30) graphics cards to
ensure product stability and quality. According to industry sources, Nvidia will only release the more simplified NV31
and NV34 chips to card makers for product design.

Requiring a twelve-layer PCB due to the complexity of its higher frequency design, Nvidia’s top-end GeForce FX card
is expected to hit the market after the Chinese New Year in late February. Instead of allowing graphics card
manufacturers to design and produce their own products, Nvidia is said to have decided to place orders at certain EMS
(electronics manufacturing service) companies itself and then sell the finished products to card makers to better control
    the quality.

Nvidia's FX Flow Thermal Management consists of a copper heat spreader, heat pipes, and an air flow system.
Outside air is pulled inward and is cooled as it passes over the heat pipe and circulates over the heat spreader.
The heated air is eventually blown out of the case. The temperature of the GPU is monitored and adjustments
are made to the amount of air flow as needed. The GeForce FX contains an auxiliary Molex four-pin power
connector on the right side of the graphics card and is used to supply the additional power needed to operate
at maximum processor clock speeds. The combination of the cooling and power features takes up enough space
    to occupy two PCI slots.
