Will oc'ing your video card significantly shorten its life? Does it depend on how much you oc it?

    Thanks.

It does majorly depend on how much you overclock it. But any component that is being stressed to what its "not" supposed to do is shortening its life. The life expectency of hardware is so big it doesn't really matter. Put it this way......

The average life of a processor years ago was about 10 ten years IF TAKEN CARE OF. I'm assuming the the life expectency of processors now have increased somewhat due to technology. Lets say you did something so incredibly harsh that you cut its life down by HALF! You now have 5 years left in that processor. Are you telling me your gonna be running that processor in 5 years? I sure won't be.........

With most oc'ing, it is the additional heat generated that deteriorates the components. Improving the cooling will counter the problem.

If a card overheats will it crash the system always or is there a chance that it will make like an AMD and become a very expensive coaster???

Well if you do OC your card too much and shorten it's life it gives you a good reason to upgrade :D
