I currently have a old as the hills Velocity 128 AGP card

my system is Gigabyte VTXH+ MB Athlon 1800xp 512MB ram
    1x80gb+1x20GB Hd.

I mainly use the Pc for internet work, but extensivley with Photoshop and various photo manipulation S/W.

Don't use it much for games only occasionally for Sim city/Age of Empires.

Anyway tried to run the Age of Mythology demo and Video card not good enough.

Any recommendations for an upgrade, not looking to break the bank.

Hope that makes sense(got the beer gogles on)

    Graham

depending on what your price range is a Radeon 9000/9000Pro/9100 is a good place to start & the cheapest way to get full DX8 support

If you want to spend a little more look at a GeForce4Ti4200 or Radeon 9500/9500Pro

For this use wouldn't Matrox be something to look at?

That would be a good choice but I can get a R9000 cheaper here than a Matrox though and I reckon that should be more than enough for him. ;)

I hope that's a Pro for that price but checkout the price of a Gigabyte MAYA R9000 (this is what I have) as these are about $140aus and this Aussie price search engine may be of help, http://www.razorprices.com/. ;)

the Sapphire Radeon9100 128mb's are going for $125cdn around here I think that's about $80USD or around $160 or so AUS

If you do go with a 9100 - call the reseller and find out what the clocks are - 9100's should be 250/250, but some of the bottom-feeder 3rd party mfg's are releasing slower models

The Gigabyte GV-R9000 Pro II is an excellent card.
I run CFS3 with it and get 27fps at 1000 feet, which is good.
    mobo P4PE
    P4
    1024RAM
I still don't know how to use the v-tuner, I have 297-266 loaded in it. but have no idea what it means or if I can safely go higher.
