What does that prove? That Albatron cards are luck of the draw $190 investments?

The first gen of these cards WAS good, and they say the third gen may be good. The second gen was unbridled poo.

Unfortunately, most retailers won't provide you with info about manufacture dtae and components.

isnt this true for most video cards?

Perhaps, though most video cards don't ~market~ themselves primarily on their overclockability and make claims about OC that turn out to be hogwash.

I am disgusted by Albatron sending out these beefy cards to reviewers and then marketing crud, and I am irritated by the complicity of reviewers in perpetuating the lie.

I wish there was a site that reviewed cards that are pulled from an average retail source (2 or 3), and not just the prettied up cards they get from the manufacturers.

They got me too psyched. I really wanted to like it. I wanted what they advertised. It was supposed to be sweet.

    I guess I'm just a hopeless romantic.

Uhhh... I may have spoken too soon... I came home today and fired up Unreal2 only to find that my Albatron card was trippin hard! I clocked it back down to spec and it was still not happy, running slow on 3Dmark 2001se and locking up. I let it cool off for a while and it's still kinda tweakin. I can run 2001se but it slows way down in parts! ARRRGGG!!! I don't get any visual artifacts, just sluggish performance. I think the core had a melt down or something. Well, luckily I hadn't sold off my MSI ti4200 so I'm using that again for now. I am returning the Albatron (only had it for a week) and am going to apply my refund towards a 9700 pro. It'll be 80 bucks more and well worth it.

It took me a little while to come to this decision, because I have been so "pro Nvidia" since the TNT was hot... And I am sorry if I falsely influenced any one with my other post praising the Albatron card. I am not bitter, I just want a super fast card without the "is it gonna work??" hassle. Anyhew - I also noticed a good sized scratch on the front of the card which goes across 3 chip contacts. I don't know what chip, it's very small, but that's enough of a case for a full refund in my book. Hmmm... guess it's time to change my sig, have one more smoke and zonk out. I've had enough for today...

I just yesterday received my albatron 4680ti and installed it. Now I am new to this, so some of the fault may be my own, but I also see this card as showing no real benefit to overclocking. I installed the card and got a 7700 on benchmark 2001SE, updating the drivers got me a 8549, but from there on out I haven't seen anything more than 8650 and that was with 275/590. Not exactly what I was hoping for. Now I could be doing something wrong, but I am using the overclocking software that came with the card, coolbits I believe. Can anyone give me recomendations for getting better results. I have a 1.6 GHz processor, only a 4x AGP slot (but sren't most tests run with AA off? so does it matter?). I know nothing about flashing bios, and no clue if this will help. If someone could please help me see some noticable score increasings, I'd appreciate it. Also, the card is awesome, I believe as long as what you see in gameplay is awesome who cares about benchmark, but I'd like to know I didn't get ripped by a company claiming overclockability, when that's not the case. Thanks!

    1.6ghz what? P4? Athlon?
What type of ram you got? SDRAM? RDRAM? DDR? And what speed?

If your using SDRAM for example, I can see your score being under 10k... even using ddr on a p4 1.6 is iffy breaking 10k w/ a decent video card.

    P4, 1.6GHz
    512 DDR 400 FSB
    80GB

I turned all the overclocking tools down till I figure out what I am doing wrong. I only have a 4x AGP slot, but does that matter? I am testing with no AA or anything. I kkep thinking it's me, hoping Albatron didn't "get" me, but am starting to lean the other way. Please help a newbie get his card up to specs, but I do feel that the card works great, all benchmarking aside, so I refuse to feel bitter about my purchase, thanks in advance.
