as i cannot post this on the news section this information will have to go here.

Ati have released(more like leaked) information on three new cards. There is the 9800 which will be the card to replace the 9700. The 9600 to take care of the mid price range. And the 9200 to replace the 9100 and 9000. Rumour has it that ati wil stop makeing older cards and replace them with these(the 9000 mobile edition will be replaced by the 9700 mobile edition.)

Right now the part you're really intrested in. The specs.
The 9800 will have a core speed of 375 mhz and a memory speed of 350 mhz with 128 ddr ram.The card is still made on the 0.15 bored.

The 9600 has the biggest change as it is being made on a 0.13 bored. The standerd version will have 300 mhz clock speed and 300 mhz memory spped. While the pro will have a 400 mhz clock speed and 400 mhz memory speed. A huge jump! It will also have 128 mg's of ddr.

I'm looking forward to learning more and as soon as i find more information you guys will be the first to know. I was thinking of buying a 9500 pro but now i think i might wait.

there's a ton of rumours flying around on the Inquirer and other places....I reserve judgment until the official release:D

RV280 is likely to be called Radeon 9200. This will appear in both "Pro"and Non-Pro version.

RV350 is likely to be called Radeon 9600, and there is no mention of Pro or non-pro version in the drivers (at this time)

R350 is likely to be called Radeon 9800 (not 9900 as recent rumors suggest) and again there's no mention in the drivers at this time of Pro or Non-Pro version of this chipset.

    Radeon 9800 0,15 Ám 375 MHz DDR-I 128 MByte 350 MHz
    Radeon 9600 Pro 0,13 Ám 400 MHz DDR-II 128 MByte 400 MHz
    Radeon 9600 0,13 Ám 300 MHz DDR-II 128 MByte 300 MHz
    Radeon 9200 0,15 Ám 275 MHz DDR-I 64 MByte 275 MHz

    Confusion?!?!

Wouldn?t the 9600 possibly be more er ?powerful? then the 9800?
Or is it a simpler chip, perhaps to take baby steps into the 0.13 um process?

What happens after the 9900 Pro? With there be a Radeon X since that?s the latest fashion, Radeon 10K?, Radeon 10,000, Radeon Ucantcountthathigh?
Someday I would like to become knowledgeable so that I could do penance for all the stupid questions I have and have yet to ask.

From what I under stand...the 9600 is a new 4 pipeline GPU .13micron and clocked faster than the 9800 which is more or less a 9700pro refresh (.15micron - 8 pipelines)

the 9600pro is supposed to provide perfromance on par with a 9700np

so the 9600 looks to be more sophisticated than the 9800 - just not as much horsepower

.....of course this is all speculation at this point:2cents:

Ok, now I understand the 9600 is better except when dealing with horses. :p

Ditto on the whole 9500 thing.
