Umm go with the 256mb 9800 which will prolly be great since Doom 3 seems to be a memory hogger...but expect to pay 500 USD for it...but by the looks of tyhe other components listed money doesn't to be a limted factor on your new soon to be rig..so say wait a lil and grab one of those 9800...

From what i've seen around the word on the street is the FX is faster than the 9700 but the 9800 is faster than the FX, the official releases should be good.

I'd heard that the FX is only faster than the 9700 without AA and AF turned on :thumbs do Damn Nvidia and their 128 bit memory interface  If u wanna play Doom 3 with good framerates and any AA or AF I'd suggest the 9800 Pro from all the reviews Ive read.

Yeah, with the new Nvidia 43.00 drivers, the FX has to run in 32bit rendering mode (instead of 16bit, where it was before for all of the benchmarks) and I read an article last week which showed it was slower than the 9700 Pro with those new drivers. wow... It's a good read, check it here! Hey SlimJim, if you are on a budget, just wait a month or so and pick up a used 9700 Pro off of eBay or something. That card will have a lot of life in it, for atleast another year, if not more. peace...

EDIT: whoops... looks like they took the article down. Geez, getting your link posted on one of these message boards is almost like getting "slash-dotted" I reckon. ;)
