Just because you watch TV, doesn't mean you are recording it. I've been watching TV in a small box in the corner of my screen while I work, and it's fine. It's only when you need to record stuff that you have to worry. Also, you can pick how well it records when you do want to record, so if you are doing a lot of stuff, just record to a DivX or equivalent, so file size is low. With the settings I had, I could get 21 hours of footage on 10GB, with pretty good quality picture and sound. So there's nothing to worry about there.

Three answers for you E^vol - Love it / No / A fair bit. :)

Not sure exactly how cable works. so I can't answer. If it just tunes in like normal TV stations, then it'll work. I've got Pay TV here in Australia, which requires it's own decoder box, so I just run AV cords out of that.

What good are benchmarks when there's nothing to compare them to? :)

Thanks for the info Beefy !
Oh, by the way... Is your card "built by ATI" or "powered by ATI" ?

As far as I'm aware, all of the AIW series are pretty done by ATi themselves... Mine has been rebadged as Powercolor, but the card and contents are identical to the ATi model. The box is the same, except for a Powercolor logo down the side.

Ok, so it doesn't matter which you get, they're all the same.
    Thanks again for the info.

Do you understand the concept / differences of an aerial connection as opposed to a simple RCA / S-video connection?

What kind of cable runs OUT of your cable box? Do you have the choice to use RCA / S-video leads as well?

yeah but the AWI doesn't plug into a cable box, or does it? I thought it recorded from the TV screen
