why the hell learn VB when u can use PHP!!

haha, i hate VB, and yes i've used it, although i admit, tracking a function/expression in VB is easy, it is just as easy in other languages.

I have dabbled in Java, now THATS a headache, but its much like C and wotever, JavaScript is where I really grounded myself, and from there i have been learning PHP... in terms off app development, vb is alright, i mean, it gets the job done, but i'd prefer the power of c++ or the like.

in terms of a web development environment, ppl talk about how easy vb is over php, but they r dumb frontpage users who want people to create security crater's so that their site works! PHP runs rings around vb, i don't care what you say....now, on to that php thread...

    ^^^

VB sucks for web development, yes.

But it's pretty easy and quick to use to create software applications, etc.

Macros are a pretty cool way of using VBscript. But anyway.. Yes Visual Basic is an easy language to learn but it has its faults. It has large runtime files and executes slower than other languages because of this. C++ is the best language to learn but it is one of the hardest. VB is a good starter to get the fundamentals of programming but lacks the support for major applications.
