    hey, im currently running Apache web server...well im wondering if there are any servers out there that are more easier to use then apache. I mean a gui driven interface, access control. I tried to make accounts and passwords for apache and I cant figure it out well if anyone knows of a easier, but just as powerful server...thats free?? plz reply...thanx :D

    well, you could always give IIS a go (*gasp* ive never recommended this to ANYBODY before)...it does what your after, a GUI interface, but remember, it's _very_ insecure...make sure you keep up-to-date with all patches if you do decide on running this...it comes with Windows NT/2K/XP

    I run IIS on my box - but ONLY when I'm testing PHP stuff. Sure, it's easier, but if you're gonna run it, do as Grim said - make sure you have all the security patches.

    Probably just best off to get really comfortable with Apache :).

    LOL.. this thread reminds me of the old IIS bashing commercials I've seen in the states. It had a TV set up showing a company's new website to a crowd of investors.. they looked all proud, then their faces twisted into looks of horror as they saw their site had been hacked.

    Apache.. the ironclad solution.

    Have you tried using a graphical front end to manage your apache? like webmin
