Ok, latest update. I'm about to order the following:

    AMD Athlon 2700+ XP CPU
Spire Falcon Rock 2 HSF (with better fan)
    Soltek 75-FRN2-RL motherboard
    2 x twin matched Corsair 512MB 400Mhz DDR RAM
    2 x 120GB Maxtor SATA HDDs
    Audigy 2 Platinum

I was contemplating getting the 3200+ (for the 200FSB), but figured I could just get the 2700+ and OC it to 200 anyway. Is that a viable option?

PC3200 is the minimum that ya should be lookin' at but do consider lookin' seriously at PC3500 especially for a future upgrade path. ;)

Let me rephrase that. I was contemplating getting an Athlon 3200+, as it runs normally at 200FSB, but was thinking I could get an Athlon 2700+ and boost the FSB by 33 to 200Mhz anyway... :)

Well I'd be certainly goin' for PC3500 then but then I also like very aggressive memory timings as you should know plus even set to the 200MHz FSB I'd still push the FSB further again (but then I'm like that and I'm waitin' for a 8RDA3+ so I can get this 2600+ up there with stability).

OK, managed to get the system up and running last night. Still haven't got the new cooler or the RAM (used stock cooling and borrowed a 512MB stick while I wait for the good stuff).

This thing flies. One thing I didn't realise is that the onboard SATA on the Soltek board is RAID only, so I had to put my two 120GB drives in a RAID. Not that I'm complaining about the speed though. :)

Haven't done any benchies yet, will wait until the proper RAM is in for that.

Are ya using one single stick atm, then expect a BIG difference when ya recive the proper memory modules and the dual channel kicks in.. :)

Yeah. At the moment, using a 512MB DDR333 stick. Will soon have the 2 x 512MB DDR400 Corsair.... Can't wait.
