i'd still go for a higher psu:), and wait till the actual testing(with drivers and all) of the gfx 5900 cause it might as well end up like the 5200-5800(maybe, maybe not).
    My rig:
    amd athlon xp 2500+ barton core @2.16GHZ (180mhz 12x)
cooler master x-dream(with cooler master high performance thermal compound)
    mobo: asus a7n8x deluxe
    512mb of ddr pc-3200
    radeon 9500 pro
    pctv tuner card
    antec 5.1 speakers
antec case with 5 80mm fans
    430 watts psu
    15" monitor @ 1024*768 32bit 70hz
    48x cd-rom, 52x24x52x cdrw
    2x 160gbs 7200 rpm 8mb buffer maxtor hdd
    win xp pro with sp1a
    all drivers updated

Well I'm a stubborn ass sometimes, I will go for whatever get's the best results in reviews and performance, duh :)

And atm not mutch talks for ATI, not to mention the likelyness of running into problems.

Just check out our vidcard threads here on TT, how many of the videocard issues are related to ATI and how many are related to Nvidia. : peace2:

I know where you're coming from. ATi has done some massive improvements over the past few years. Whe they put out the Radeon, they killed what should've been a fine product with the ****tiest drivers that could be put out. It took them awhile after the 8500 was released to get it nailed down and have been doing much better ever since. nVidia has been tweaking their drivers to get the FX line to run better, but when you've got the 9500 Pro that runs comparable to a Ti4600 for half the cost it initially debuted at, and the fact that ATi has made some huge steps to ensure much better drivers, I think that ATi is a very viable alternative to nVidia.

I have a GeForce 3 and an Radeon 8500LE. When it comes to stuff like UT2003, the 8500 easily kicks the GF3 ass. I had to drop my res to 1024x768 with eye candy almost off to get UT2003 to run better than a slide show. The 8500 can do 1280x1024 with a decent amount of eye candy enabled and only start getting choppy with lots of action going on.

get teh antec true power 480 watt psu and get the radeon 9800 pro 128 rather than teh nvidia.....u dont need the 256 mb ...no games use all the 256 mb and its just a waste of money since in a few months....more graphics cards will come out!

It's a bigger buffer. If you want the best, get the 256MB, or if the price difference isn't too great between the 128 and 256MB versions. True that current games really don't make much out of it, but more memory could be helpful when Doom 3 and Half Life 2 hit.

The__tweaker: If you're considering the IC7-G (Canterwood) motherboard, then Abit is due to announce a Max 3
version in the middle of next month. ATI's new R360 graphics processor should be announced sometime in July as well.
