since money is clearly an issue here (but I don't know what 200 AUS equates to in US $) I'd say go with an AMD Athlon XP CPU...you'll get the most bang for your buck that way

Edit: Wiggo beat me to it :)

Thanks guys, but I think I will get the Athlon XP 2600+. Also, what would be the temperature difference if I used my standard heatsink/fan combo that came with my Duron compared to the Volcano 7+?

Also, with the FSB at 333MHz, will my RAM run at its full potential or will I have to overclock the it?

Thanks for putting up with me and my stupid questions.

Even the HSF that comes with the XP2600+ is unsatisfactory and in a slightly warm room will prove a problem (not to mention summer itself) but what memory rating are ya running?

[EDIT] n/m as I've just seen ya other thread and ya'll need to run the memory insync with the CPU's FSB but seein' as it's PC3200 ya'll be able to run very aggressive timings at the CPU's FSB unless ya drop the CPU's multiplier down and run at a 200MHz FSB.

Thanks for all the help guys, but one last question - will I have to format my comp b4 I install the new processor, or is there a way to do it without a format?? :?:

you can, but anytime you change a major hardware component(s) it is usually a good idea to format as well
