Hey, I was just doing some research, you might wanna return that 2600+ as it only has a 256kb L2 cache. The cheaper 2500+ has a 512kb L2 Cache. I dunno if its the same with AMD's, but for a P4, twice the cache makes a big difference in performance. Hope I posted b4 ya bought everything. : peace2: Mista K6

Yes I'm aware of that but as the 2500+ runs with a 250Mhz lower speed than this 2600+ I'd figure it would strangle it's performance quite a bit too.. That's why I choose this one instead..

Yes but also take into consideration that I would need a mutch more expensive memory in order to manage that without experiencing unstableness and ****.. This is a budget and medium performer build, I would have picked a sweet P4/I875 solution if I wanted more power and was willing to spend more $$$.. :)

The L2 cache doesn't do **** for the Barton.
My 2400+ is about it to beat it once I start overclocking it. It is running about 80mhz behind right now.
Any of the reviews will tell ya, the L2 isn't being utilized as of yet, as far as the ones I have read. And from my testing.

Ahhhh, evidently P4's run quite differently, see, AMD isnt my area. All I know is my P4 Williamette w/ a 256kb L2 cache is quite a bit slower than my friends 2.0GHz Northwood w/ 512kb L2 cache; both are on 400FSB systems (although the 0.13 micron manufacturing process might have something to do with it). : peace2: Mista K6
