    Dude, where the hell are you getting this information?

    1. You cannot modify a 9500 PRO into a 9700.

    2. 9800 PROs can be had for $250-300.

    yeah how about going back to telling me which card to get, i was thinking the 9700 pro and skimping out on the monitor, what do you think

    9700 Pro is probably your best bet, but I never skimp out on monitors.....yes you will have a good card, but you won't be able to see the detail and image its producing correctly. There is a big difference in image quality between a cheap monitor and a good one like a Sony.

    I would get a 9700 non pro for around $200, clock it up a bit, and use the rest of the money for a good VGA.

    yeah sony makes the best crt for your buck and the 9700 non-pro is pretty choice. overclock the poop out of it, and youll be able to play anything you want until like next summer
