forget about the soundcard, if you get the A7N8X Deluxe it has Soundstorm, which is far better than what you have put down and the regular Nforce2 APU's. it has proper 5.1 support and is not far off a Audigy2 overall.

    Just a couple of tips:
I'll never buy an OEM processor again! I have a dead Athlon XP 2200+ that is only 4 months old....it died, and because an OEM processor typically only carries a 30 day warranty....I'm stuck with it. Boxed CPU's come with a fan but they're usually only a few bucks more, and the warranty is a couple years. (BTW....I didn't see a HS/F in your list?)
Second, if you're planning to OC....or even if you're not....faster RAM is only a few bucks more. It's a good investment as the little extra you'll spend would be more than lost if you sold the used RAM for faster stuff. :2cents:

PC3200 IS enough....if you're gonna leave it stock. I was thinking for OC and future-proofing, it's not much more for faster RAM.
OEM is Original Equipment Manufacturer. It's a processor for system builders that add their own heatsinks, and carry the warranty themselves. A boxed processor is warrantied by the manufacturer....Intel or AMD, and "must" be used with the stock heatsink. If you ever need to warranty it, there's numbers on the HS/F that they'll want to have as proof it was a boxed processor. Hope that helps :)

IMHO: Dont build a new comp now (both of those are 32-bit processors), wait a couple of months and build yourself a system based on 64-bit processing. Otherwise, you're gonna be the kid that buys the scooter and then a week later everyone has moved on to bikes :( . : peace2: Mista K6
    Modified Dell 8200 Case:
    -400MHz FSB i850 Intel mobo
    -P4 Williamette Socket 478, 1.9GHz
    -768MB 16-bit PC800 RDRAM
    -MSI GF4 Ti4200 128MB @ 284/581
    -7200 RPM Maxtors: 60GB (2MB) on mobo and 160GB (8MB) on ATA/133 PCI Card
-Creative Inspire T7700 7.1 Speaker System on an Audigy 2
    -Windows XP Home Edition SP2

I'm not quite sure on getting an AMD chip altogether yet... It's cheaper..but does a Athlon XP 2500 Barton perform better than a 2.4c P4?
