    1. Forget the FX 5800, 128bit, hot and very noisy. If you're looking for a performance card, then I would recommend that you consider choosing either the GeForce FX 5900 (standard not value) or Radeon 9800.

    2. Regarding monitors, up until now I've always used Sony, I won't be again. Iiyama is a manufacturer worth considering.

Why not buy OEM? All it is, is the retail version without the box and all the stuff that comes with it. That's why its cheaper, but its still the same thing.

5900s can be had for around $325 now, which is close to the lowest 9800 Pros ive seen at $300.

i ended up getting a geforce 5600 ultra and a nice 19 in two tone viewsonic with varying brightnesses. Saved a little money and still should be good for most games. I figured the small improvement in the 9800 non pro was not worth the considerable price difference. Witht he extra money i bought a really nice head set.

Tell me what ya think, my system is complete but refunds could always be aranged if there is some known issues with the components i selected to let me know.

    Thanks

Whoa buddy, there is no "small improvement' when going from 5600 to 9800....its a whole new ballgame. We're talking a card that may do 15k 3DMarks on a really good system, vs a card that will do 23k....

Well, you see....15k vs 23k......is an enormous difference.

The thing is, one will play your games at 1024x768.

The other, will play your games at 1600x1200 and 8x Anisotropic Filtering. The image quality difference is amazing.

You seriously cannot say those 3DMark scores mean nothing....they mean everything, they show just how much power difference there really is.

I just bought a Lacie Electron Blue 4 22" and ohhhh is it sweet =)

Now if ATI would just repair my damn AIW Radeon 9800 and get it back to me pronto.
