I'm building myself my very first rig and I want to get the most bang outta my buck, which do you think would be a stronger card for my money?

The 9700 Pro is 219$ while the XT is around 160$ I think...

    Thanks in advance!

If you want the absolute BEST bang for your buck, then the 9500Pro is actually really good. Its usually hard to find though, even on eBay.

But I would go with the 9700Pro to answer your question.

The 9500 is very hard to find, the reason why he suggested a 9500pro is because you can softmod it to a 9700. But i doubt you can find those because they stop making them. I would definitely go for the 9700.

DX9 is not supported on the 9700, but it really wouldnt benift you all that much anyways. The overall perforamce of the 9700 is better then the 9600.

I have both the 9700 Pro and 9600 Pro. I've not compared them as far as scores go but I play the same games on both and can tell no difference in performance running both at max settings at 1280x1024. The 9700 Pro is the stronger card but you wouldn't be bad off with the 9600XT if you get a free copy of HL2. :thumb:
