it's my b'day soon and my brother said he'll buy me a new part for my PC. i was wondering if i should just upgrade something in this PC, eg. ram, mobo or video card (see specs in sig) or if i should get a new mobo for a p4 2.53Ghz chip i have lying around??

Maybe a new vid card? Though it depends on your needs.

The GeForce MX's suck pretty bad.
If the stuff in glow sticks is truly toxic then why do they make so many flavors?

Ah. Then what are your needs?

If you just surf the web, e-mail, and word process then you really donít an upgrade.

i mostly just fiddle around with the PC, OCing is good and i play a play a small amount of games, that's pretty much all. i do encode anime and stuff though...

also i was checkin out prices and i saw a ATI Radeon 9600 Pro 256mb for $189 AUD. is that a bargain??

i would say to get a motherboard for the p4 so that you could have two computers.
one for using the other for overclocking and whatever else

No, better to go for a 9700 Pro for $189 or a 9800 Pro for $225. They are high end cards while the 9600 is a mid-level card. The extra 128 megs of RAM wont do anything.

Though it sounds like you don't game much. If you encode often the second mobo would definitely help you more than the vid card.

Also, it lets you take one comp appart while still having a second working PC.

You encode anime? Do you fansub? Otaku desu.

my mobo doesn't support AGP 8x, doesn't run anything higher than pc2700 ram, and my DVD burner buffer levels are messed up on it :( should i upgrade AMD mobo? any good suggestions on what i should upgrade to?

if i buy a mobo for the p4 it would most likely sit there because i don't have enough money to get a gfx card and ram for it -_-... but if i do decide to buy p4 mobo, it would be ASUS p4p800...

lastly if i do get the p4 mobo, should i just swap everything with the AMD + mobo? would i get a huge performance boost out of it??
