Hey im looking to build a new comp. I want a decent machine for gaming. The price range will be about 700-1,000 US dollars. ASo can someone give me a list of all the parts. And can you pick otu a monitor, keyboard and mouse and speakers, but dont include it in the price because I already ahev that stuff now, but I am planning on buyign new ones in the future, but dont include it in the price because that is what im buying now.

Also I may overclock but may not and I want an amd based system. So can someone give me a list of all the parts and a link to where to get them

Wait until a bit into June because socket 939 motherboards and processors will be coming out. Basically, they will be a better use for your money than the socket 754 motherboards and processors already out (which you would want with this much money) and will leave better upgrading options.

    In the mean time....

For your mouse, consider these based on pricing and features:
    http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...104-127&depa=0
    http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...104-128&depa=0
    http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...104-129&depa=0
    http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...104-149&depa=0

    For keyboards:
    http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...126-114&depa=0
    http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...126-120&depa=0

Or you could get a pack of both:
    http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...126-124&depa=0

It's probably best to wait for prices to go down first (which they will, shortly), but here are some things to consider for a video card:
    http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...102-268&depa=0
    http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...102-319&depa=0
    http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...125-119&depa=0
If the XT drops a lot in price (over a hundred dollars), then you should probably go for it. Otherwise, it's probably best to stick with the Pro. You won't get that much more performance even though it's more expensive. Plus good cooling and lots of overclocking can get that pro faster than the XT for much less money. Note that third link (the Gigabyte 9800XT) comes with a coupon reedemable for Half-Life 2 (so it's $30 more for a game that will be $50+).

Look at these for hard drives, depending on how much space you need:
    http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...144-318&depa=0
    http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...148-017&depa=0

Maybe someone else can help more with monitor, but you could look at these:
    http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...001-119&depa=0
    http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...001-005&depa=0
    http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...001-120&depa=0

Just about everything else should wait. You could get the hard drive, mouse, keyboard, and monitor now, but everything else will should wait until early June for socket 939 stuff.

It shouldn't be long before motherboards go on sale, and not much longer until online benchmarks show what's best.

you should go to tomshardware.com and read the article about the kid wanting to build a computer for 1000 or less. it would help you out a lot.
dam video cards eat up a third of your money, sucks, it really sucks.
