Actually, this round of Graphics cards has the GeForce 6800's being a better card than the Radeon X800's. Last time ATi had the edge, but here, nVidia's back with a vengance.
    Otherwise, it looks pretty good.

If you plan on gaming, I'd go with the Abit AV8 motherboard. The VIA chipset performed a bit better than the nForce3 in the tests I've finished up with on a s939 platform. Now to wait and see if the VIA or nForce4 does better when the next round of chipsets hit the market.

It will be used as a general purpose computer for gaming, DVD copying and other CPU intensive applications as well as listening to music, browsing the web and what-not. I will also have the present computer (see sig) as a backup for when the main (new computer) is working. I will also be OCing it.

"The general performance of the VIA and nVidia-based 939 boards was virtually the same in DirectX 9 games, with one notable exception. Microsoft's Halo performs almost 15% better on the nVidia nForce3 Ultra."

I'd go with the MSI. It's also the best Mobo for OC'ing.

You can quote Anand all you want but from the tests I've just run on a pair of boards using each of these chipsets, the gaming results are a bit better with the VIA.

But have you tested overclockability, or considered the superior features present on many of the NF3 boards? That's the point of the Anandtech tests. Unless your tests show a huge difference in the numbers or at least a very signifcant one, I wouldn't recommend anything other than the MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum for a gaming motherboard.
