Default CPU - OEM or Retail?

I am buying a new Athlon 64's the question -

I will be using a Venus 12 cooler, and I believe I can get any documentation/installation instructions I need at AMD's website.

Given the above, is there any advantage/disadvantage to buying the Retail vs. the OEM version?

I apologize ahead of time if this is discussed somewhere else in the forums. Have tried searching, no luck.

If you have a seperate HSF then get OEM. It will be cheaper and you will not need any of the extras.

I find that the retail ones aren't much more... So if you are not wanting to buy an aftermarket HSF then the retail would be your best choice, the stock fans arent that bad unless you OC fairly high... I have my s754 3200 @ 2.6GHz with stock... be carefull not to raise the Vcore to much if you get the HSF/CPU package.

Suppose if your're gona overclock then the retail version's 3yr warranty is moot anyway...depends on the price difference
