Thread: Budget college computer

  1. Question Budget college computer

    Hey guys,
I have been asked to build a college computer for a friend. It is going to be mostly used for homework and the ocassional game. The budget is $750. Here is what I've chosen to go in it so far:

MSI K8N NEO4-F SOCKET 939 NVIDIA NFORCE4 ATX AMD MOBO
ASPIRE X-DREAMER II ATXB4KLW BLACK CASE
CORSAIR VALUESELECT 1GB (2X512MB) 184 SDRAM DUAL CHANNEL
    AMD ATHLON 64 3200+ VENICE 1GHZ FSB 512KB L2 CACHE SOCKET 939
    LITE-ON DVD BURNER SOHW-1693S BLACK
    ALBATRON PC6600GT / 128 VIDEO CARD
    SEAGATE BARRACUDA 7200RPM 200GB HD

How does it look? Would everything work? Anything to change? Any help would be appreciated!

I'd sugggest you change the motherboard to a Chaintech VNF4 Ultra. It's one of the cheapest nForce 4 Ultra chipset motherboards, and it's actually cheaper and better than the MSI your looking at now. It should have everything your friend needs for a good price.

Other than that, there are no major changes to be made. Everything else looks fine.

The chaintech does look a little better and it's 6 bucks cheaper!

I forgot to mention that the video card is pcie for those who are interested.
