Thread: Seagate or Maxtor Hard Drive Upgrade

  1. #1

Default Seagate or Maxtor Hard Drive Upgrade

I can pick up either a Seagate 250gb SATA (7200.8 model) Hard Drive, or 2 Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 9 160gb SATA hard drives for the same price. Will it be better to have the one Seagate by itself or the two Maxtors in Raid. I currently have a 120gb and 40gb WD Caviar ATA 100 (8mb cache) drives.

    My hardware is

    AMD 2600@2.2 ghz
    Asus A7N8X deluxe
    512mb x 2 Corsair 3200xlpr

Well two 160GB drives is 320GB so that seems to be a much better choice than a single 250GB drive. Regardless of whether or not they're in RAID, it'll be more space and more speed if you set it up correctly.

Alright then I'll get the maxtor drives. Thanks for the help.
