    Default New Computer Builder (eek!)

    Howdy,

My first post on here was asking for advice on what company to buy a
computer from. Now--with your advice and some soul searching--I have
decided to build it myself. I have a budget of around 2k, and am
looking for a system to do it all: gaming, tv, photoshop, usual home
    stuff, etc.

Here is what I have in mind after some research. Everything is from New
Egg cept speakers and keyboard/mouse. I would love your opinions and
    advice; the more the better:

I see no reason to go for a case that expensive. Get something cheaper that you like the looks of.

I really see no reason to have an SLI motherboard, since you're not even using SLI. Go for a motherboard using the nForce 4 Ultra chipset.

Go with OCZ Platinum instead of that Corsair. It has much lower latencies and only costs $10 or $15 more after the rebate.

$160 is way too much to spend on a 500W PSU. Try this.

With this budget, I'd say it's worth spending a little extra for a dual-layer DVD burner.

$100 for a new keyboard and mouse? Maybe if you're getting a Logitech MX1000...
otherwise, that's way too much. You can get a good keyboard (wireless or not) and a good wired gaming mouse for a lot less than $100. Also, a mouse and keyboard will be cheaper on Newegg, even with shipping. Of course, this is all assuming you haven't bought them already.

I don't see much reason to be using onboard sound with this system, especially with those 5.1 surround sound speaker. Get a 24-bit Creative card.

I can't tell you about the TV Tuner since I don't know much about them, but I do know that most people seem to like ATI's TV tuners.
