    Question Reccomendations for a comp.

Hi everyone, sorry for starting a new thread, and thanks in advance.

I Am Currently using a paperwieght computer, actually its a dell, actually they are the same thing.
I am a new geek, I know how to build a comp. I want to which chipset to buy. I am gonna keep my net card (PCI) my sound blaster x-Fi (PCI) and my speakers (logitech, 5.1) along with my keyboard. Im gonna save up for a couple of months and then get building. I need help deciding whether I should get a AM2 or the same old same old 939 or whatever chipset. I will use a pci-e x16 gpu (any suggestions?). I dont know what proc to get because I dont know what chipset to use.

    So.....
I need to know what chipset mobo proc and gpu to use. I will have roughly 600$ to spend on these alone.

Hey orangutang91 well first of all the best bang for the buck graphics card would be the 7600gt its around 150 to 200 on newegg. Now I suggest getting a doul core cpu for when vista comes out and atleast 2gb of ram, I'll put together a cupple different computers and you can chouse what you like ill try to keep it at 600.

Also im going to do it on newegg if you suggest any other site just tell me!!!!!!!

Entry level Conroe is the best bang for the buck, even wit hAMD's price drops. IF you are gonna go AMD, then AM2 is the only route. And you won't need a PCI network card, all mobos come with 2 connections.

I am not familiar with AM2 mobos, but Yawg reccommended a MSI K9N Platinum. Someone suggested a X2 4200, but that is out of the budget. I know that this is a little more than you wanted to spend, but you could probably cut some things. This build is tight, but it should offer you some performance.
