Thread: What video card should I buy?

Default What video card should I buy?

I just bought a new (well scratch & dent) dell. Specs are Q660 quad core 2.4mhz, 500GB HD, 4GB of Ram and integrated video card. Obviously I need a new card, but I don't really want to mess with upgrading the power supply right now.

What card would you recommend thats under or right around $100-115?

    Thanks!

Dell makes a lot of different configurations. A model number might help. Does the Dell have an expansion slot for video? If so, is it safe to assume it has a PCI express slot (x16?)? What power supply unit is in the thing now (how many watts rated)?

    It's the inspiron 530. Yeah, I need a PCI-e x16 and the PS is 350 watts, I believe.

ATI HD4670 is about the most powerful card that PSU can handle. It will give you a very significant boost over the onboard video as well.

Yeah that Systems doesnt leave you much of an upgrade route you could get a more powerful PSU for not a huge cash outlay. but as Casecutter stated the HD4670 will run circles around the intergrated graphics.
