Default Gaming PC Build (RIG ONLY) $850 Budget.

    Hello all.

I am about to build a gaming PC my my little brother in law (aged 13)
This will be my second build.

It is my intention to have a PC that can be upgradeable in the future to keep up with tech advances in the gaming world.

So Cpu socket type is the big question.

Crossfire would be an advantage, he currently has his heart set on ati 5000 series graphics cards (direct x11). This is a must have.

    Budget is limited. $850

I will research in in the following order.

    1. CPU (prefer Intel) Thinking E8500 but is the I5, I7 series a better bet nowdays?
    2. Motherboard (I am liking Gigabyte) x64bit, DDR3 prefered, crossfirex16x16, 1xGig Lan, USB miniumum ports is ok, Dolby onboard 5.1.
The question for me here is the chipset. Whats good for the money and for the future?
    3. Ram. (Not sure to skimp a little/lot here or not) 4gbmin. I like Corsair but $$.
    4. Grahics Card. (ATI 5000 series)
    5. Power Supply.(Obviuosly a good one, but the question is to get one that can handle a crossfire set up later or not?)
    6. HDD Something that will perform well. Size is not important, aprox 320gb is perfect.
    7. DVD or Blu Ray (probably dreaming here)
    8. Case (currently have a piece of crap mid tower that could possibly be used) Gaming rig Prefered to allow easy upgrades.

    Allready in possesion of a monitor "samsung 2433" 1920x1080, 50,000:1 contrast, 5ms.
This was bought without my input for $205 (outside of budget). Seems a good price but I question the 5ms. 2ms would be better. This can be returned if you have better suggestions.

Please provide any useful links or feedback.

    Thanks Heaps.

If this is going to be a 'upgradeable' rig that you'll want to have for a while and also run crossfire possibly in the future I would suggest a 650w + PSU. (like the one in your rig, if the budget can handle). And if your set on the i5 650 then you'll need a H55 or H57 motherboard, otherwise the i5 750 I think is the same price.

Thanks for feedback. I have looked into bundles over here in Germany but I can't find any offers.

Shopping at: http://hardwareversand.de If you car to look it has an english option.

About the motherboard. If I am not mistaken the P55 chipset on the Asrock
    is appropriate.

Will post other possible builds later.

Sorry, I thought these new chips with the embedded graphics were for H55/H57, Had no idea they work on P55 platform.

    Well,
$850 budget Us is about $1600 Aussie

AMD sells Quad cores at 2.8Ghz which can be overclocked to 3.7Ghz easily. For about $300 aussie so $100 to $200 US. Amd is trying to beat intel with their cheap prices, so take advantage of them :D Also the AM3 socket supports a wide variety of CPU's and is futureproof.
ATi is much cheaper than nVidia, nVidia is WAY overpriced and ATi is much cheaper. For $400 aussie I got Gigabyte HD5830 which will be $300 to $400 US. It gets nearly twice as much fps in some games than the HD5770.
antec 900 case will be pretty nice, 100-200 dollars US.

soz but cant be bothered writing more, lol =P
