What differences (beside clock speed) are there between the two chips?

Hehe yep - besides the two clock speeds, both processors are identical.

Well he did say beside clocks speeds.
    Hmmm well there is a 400MHz & 533MHz FSB version of 2.4Ghz isn't there?
So for 2.53GHz there is only 533MHz FSB.

Thanks for the replies. I guess I just had read product descriptions from different sites which made it sound as if the 2.53 had been made to do more than just run faster. Anyone going to run out and get a 3.06? You can get three 2.4's for the same price, seems like alot to get 600MHz more...

Don't forget that the new 3 ghz cpu uses "hyper thread" and will therefore perform MUTCH better than the other ones with 533 fsb.

I have read that on the xeon procs hyper thread improved the performance by almost 40% in cpu demanding applications.

Don't have any numbers on this one but i think it will rape...

Hmm... Sounds like it might be a worthwhile investment. And if one could wait 'til the price comes down a bit. Well, then...

    which is faster?
    INTEL Pentium-4 2.4GHz(512K/Box) 533MHz FSB OR
    AMD Athlon XP 2400+ (2.0GHz/0.13Ám) 266MHz ??

Oh lets not start a flame war here!

You can pretty much say they are identical for most purposes....the AMD will win some benchmark, the Intel win some others.....so overall PRETTY similar.

Just get whichever one you prefer or is within you budget......which is a tough one since the price difference is like nothing with those 2 CPUs
