myself living in COLD Canada ill give u some advice DONT ever buy from a major retail store as you are probobly going to pay double, find a smaller retailer store (depends where in canada you live) here ill give you an example of what i can go to the store and pick up for a max of 3000

Intel P4 2.8ghz (2800XP athlon is $100 cheaper from total)
    512MB Pc2700 DDR ram
    Asus P4S8X 8XAGP IEE1394 4XUSB 2.0
    MAXTOR 80GIG 7200RPM ATA 133HDD
    ASUS TI4200 128MB DDR DVI TV/OUT
    LITEON 52X24X52X CDRW
    PIONEER 16X DVD
    1.44 FLOPPPY
    SOUND BLASTER AUDIOGY CARD
    10/100 ETHERNET
    400W ATX Full Aluminum Tower W/front IEE/USB
    for a total of $2300CDN

now for a monitor say you have 600bucks
    so lets go big
    Daytek 103FH 21" .25(flat but not thin) $599CDN
but id buy something from NEC since they are good for price vs preformance or just ask on the forums what u should get o if u thought i was misleading you in any way shape of form here is the retailer site www.techtronics.ca the prices there are very competative as far as i know

it is all depending on the type of video card you are going to get for example if u get a card with the DVI/tv/vga outputs what you can do is find out if the card that you are going to get comes or you can get a Dvi to VGA converter its ussually just a small convertor pluing would imagine it being failry cheap. what you would do is plug one monitor into the VGA and the other into the DVI or the converted VGA, with 2 monitors hooked up you can have your setup there is no special drivers for it this can be enabled in the cards setup, o also you can use say a Tv and a monitor by using the TV out but then you would have to watch out for the resolution and so on unless you have one of thouse plasma / HDTVs but then if u have that you can plug it into the DVI port. if you relaly want a 2 monitor setup then you can just search the forums you are bound to find something on 2 monitors as i have hard this topic before many times. And to answer your question you dont need a new mobo. Most Gf4 Ti do enable you to have 2 monitors but better check before you buy. hope this helps out

I would personally get slightly different components.
    I would get a cheaper CPU like a P4 2.6ghz.
For motherboard I would get something with the Intel 845PE chipset such as the Asus P4PE since this has Hyperthreading support for future upgradability.
    512mb PC2700 DDR ram.
Radeon 9700 or 9700 PRO for video card.
    The rest is pretty straightforward.

The Radeon 9700 or the GF4s for that matter will both support dual monitor.

get the asus p4g8x or gigabye ga-8inxp for dual channel ddr support. Dual channel ddr performs the same as rdram but much cheaper.
P4 2.8 System in the works!
