    Hi everyone,

I'm bulding a new comp with a quite nice budget.

So first, here is what I already have set:

    - pentium4 2.8mhz
    - Sound Blaster Audigy
    - Radeon 9700 Pro

But, as you see, I need a motherboard and some memory :D

    On the motherboard I need:
    - AGP 8X ( for the Radeon 9700 Pro)
    - at least 1.5gb DualChannel DDR400 memory support*
    - minimum 5 PCI slots

I can get 512mb of DDR400 for 125$ CAN, quite good.

    I was looking for the:

    Asus P4S8X
    Asus P4SDX Deluxe
    Asus P4G8X
    SOYO SY-P4X400 DRAGON Lite
SOYO SY-P4X400 DRAGON Ultra Platinum Edition
    Gigabyte SINXP1394 (GA-8SQ800 Ultra2)

    Any other suggestion?

    Please help. Thanks
    Peace.

I found something interesting here .

We never would have thought it, but dual channel DDR400 actually outperforms dual channel DDR266, despite the fact that the Pentium 4's FSB doesn't require more than 4.2GB/s of peak bandwidth, which is exactly what dual channel DDR266 is capable of offering.

So if I understand, p4 need 4.2GB/s of peak bandwidth, and Dual Channel DDR266 offer that. So DDR400 is useless? There's a huge difference of price between DDR400 and DDR266.
    Peace.

It's certainly not useless if ya overclocking and also it will let ya run more aggressive memory timings which leads to better performance (also it may last a few upgrades along the way).

    Tecknoize,

I have had awesome success with my Albatron board combined with OCZ PC 3500 memory. I OCed my 2.4 to 3.06 which brought my ram speed up to 429mhz.:D My system runs as smooth as.... Well, you get the picture. Tweaktown loved the albatron board too http://tweaktown.com/document.php?dType=review&dId=346 along with the OCZ memory http://tweaktown.com/document.php?dType=review&dId=407 !!!:thumb:
