I have lots of games installed in my PC for my son. He plays them very well, except for the fact that he never exits them, when he moves on to another game he always leaves the previous one open . Then he returns to the previous games, but he opens another instance instead of using the one already open. So after a few hours, there are like 7 instances of each same game opened and my poor PC ends up crashing.

So, is there a way to configure menu items and desktop shortcuts so that when double clicked they return to the instance that is already opened instead of opening a new one each time, and open a new instance of the game or application only if there is no other instance already opened. Can this be done?

By the way, I forgot to mention that I use Windows XP Professional, Service Pack 1. Disks are NTFS.

i don't think that it will be possible.
i could be wrong but what you are asking sounds like killing the "multi-tasking" capability of the OS.
now if someone can find an app or something, to do this job then it will be a shock for all those people who love to do various things at one time.
anyways good luck in ur quest :thumb:

    Thanks for your replies.
I know its a strange request, but it's not really like killing the multitasking ability. What I want is to have only one windows of each game at a given time, and several windows can be opened at the same time but only if they're from different games.
Outlook Express and PKZIP work this way, if you try to open a second window of these applications, it takes you to the one already open. Can this be done for other applications as well?
