    I have just read through this entire thread. Your video card could be the culprit. Try it in another computer, if you can, and see what happens. If you have access to a second video card, try that one. Change drivers as necessary.

    I am going to do a format then a re-install of XP. How do I do a full Drive Format?

    there is lots of ways to format a disk, but in your case I'd just let the winXP disk do the formating

    when you get to the formating part, I'd recomend not doing a quick format
    I've gone too far and need to move on!

    what problem...you do have a legitimate winXP CD don't you?

    Yeah..its legit. It says I can't delte the partition because it has necesarry temparary files. But its the only one I can select so im kinda stuck there!

    you have to boot from the CD to format your HDD, formating will erase EVERYTHING from the partition...so if you have already saved everything you want to keep (i.e. burned your stuff onto CDs), then it is to be expected that it will 'delete necesarry temparary files'

    you cannot format the partiton windows is installed on from windows...
    I've gone too far and need to move on!

    when I boot up with the Xp disk it says I cannot delete it because it is the partition with twmparary files on it.

    then get your self a bootdisk with fdisk on it (such as a win98 boot disk), use fdisk to delete the partion, then boot with the winXP CD

    if you don't have a boot disk handy, go here: bootdisk.com
