ok so i've got win xp pro and am trying to install sp1. every time i do, it installs it fine, however when i restart my computer while loading up windows i get a blue screen with stop:0x0000008e (0xc000001d, 0xf8705a54, 0xf8705198, 0x00000000). What is this all about. windows starts in safe mode and appears to have successfully installed sp1. also xp works absolutely fine, for the past year until i install sp1. if i reinstall xp from the cd it works fine, but then it hasn't got sp1. Has anyone got any ideas o what do.

    Cheers

Not that it helps you any but I get Stop:0x0000008E (0xC00000005,0x805AA1Be,0xFo6D2B68,0x00000000) when I apply all of the recommended and critical updates to my SP1. From my research the 0x0000008E part points toward memory problems as well but I have no problems that cause me any trouble aside from when I do the updates. Guess I'll have to go through the updates one at a time and see what it is that causes the problem.

daveyb, you may find your answer if you put "0x0000008E" in google's search engine. (I found a lot of possible answers including some directly from MS ... unfortunatly none seemed to match my exact problem).
