i could answer a few of these:

    1 - no idea.

2 - yes, there is no problem with this. keep in mind that having WinXP (NTFS) and Win98 (FAT32) on two separate partitions, will make the NTFS partition unseeable from Win98.

    3. im guessing it allows you to get in as administrator or something like that.

    4. pretty sure not, as long as you dont do a quick format...

    5. if your using XP, you can 'analyse' your partitions, telling you if you should defrag or not. Or if your computer runs slower than usual...it depends on how much you use it, how much stuff yu shift around and copy to/from etc...

fixboot and fixMBR saved my ass a couple of times. So dont write off Recovery disk as it has some good uses.

    1. a very big number... format as often as you like, you're not going to hurt anything

    2. yes, ntfs and fat32 partitions can co-exist on the same HDD

    3. just what is says it does ;)

    4. no that is not necessary, but I never recomend anyone do a quick format. If you want a 'clean' HDD you need to find an app that will repeatedly fill up your HDD with a repeating string of binary code to overwrite all the previous data

    5. I defrag every ~48 hrs and every time I install/uninstall something. Defraging will prolong the life of your drive and keep your performace up
I've gone too far and need to move on!
