    by experience and screwing ur install every week.
    imo if you don't know what u r doing, u shd not fiddle around with registry. RegCleaner is an excellent tool that would help you to delete the entries u no longer need.

    norton's win doctor is also very good for that - it will not only clean dead entries, it also can repair broken shortcuts, etc.
