    i have laptop that is supposed to be 256mb ram but i have only

    224mb ram...how do i get the full 256mb ram? can someone

    help me? thanks

    Most likely, the video system uses system memory instead of it's own, so the 32 megs will not show up as system memory. Check your manual and see if it lists something like, "video - 32MB of shared memory". Or, if you can get into the bios, there may be a listing for "Video Memory", and a setting for how much system memory you wish to allocate.

    your system just shows your 256 stick that way...........there isn't such a thing as 254 of ram....get it, so the laptop is reading it wrong

    He said 224, not 254 :)

    And yes it's because the GPU is using part of the system memory for itself. A lot of laptops do this.

    no waayy this cant be right

    i specifically told the customer rep that i do not want sharred

    memory. damn it.. i thought i had 32 mb dedicated of video

    memory. they ripped me off...i am so mad now
