I'm redoing a Windows 95 machine and I'm installing some old games on it (I know ) . The problem is most games that worked before on it now get a DLL file error when exicuted. I installed the original version of Windows 95 on the machine and put service pack #1 on it. Is there something else that I have forgotten about to solve this unfound DLL file problem?

Which .dll is missing or wrong?

Which game(s) are producing this error?

Anything to do with Direct X perhaps?

Direct X ver. 8.0a is the latest version available for Windows 95 - although, it may not be necessary to go that far even?

lots of pop ups on this site but you can find most DLL files here:

just be careful to download the corect language version for your OS.
