    error numbers being same doesn't mean that the disk is failing at the same place rather your disk is not failing at all. it is a problem with the partition table "Partition Magic" has written on the disk.

    But the point is that it fails at the same point with a totally new harddisk. so you can discount any disk / partition / partition magic problem.



    windows 2000 setup fails at the same point - even with a new disk.

    Windows NT workstation setup fails at the same point

    windows 98 setup fails at the same point

    win95 set up fails at the same point

    All seem to fail at the point that a graphical screen would be loaded, hence the suspicion on the graphics card.

    Have ya tried fdisk with a 98 startup disk on the drive itself (delete partition/s and then recreate)? :?:
