whenever i start my computer, and windows xp loads, a new .exe is created in the C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\temp folder. these programs try to gan access to the internet ( i block with norton firewall). they are all 409kb in size and the program name is alwats 3 letters + 1 number .EXE

    for example - myw1.exe, hnm1.exe, edw1.exe

anyone else had this problem, and if so, how do i fix this?

    Checkout Ad-aware 6.0 and/or Spybot.

Have you recently downloaded any updates to Ad-Aware? Try spybot as well.

The problem is, most likely, that a program you downloaded from a web site (intentionally or not), is creating a new program at startup that will try to access the internet. It is very likely that Spybot, Adaware, Spysweeper and similar programs capable of detecting and deleting spyware simply haven't been programmed to detect this particualar program and antivirus software usually won't notice programs like this (some antivirus programs get trojans, but most won't get spyware, spyware-removing software exists seperately for a reason). To stop this program, open up MS configuration (start, run, msconfig) and click the startup tab. Untick everything you don't use on startup. Notron Firewall is ccApp.exe, I think (I use it too), so keep that ticked and untick everything but what you are sure you need. To permanently remove it, it might be found in control panel's add\remove programs or in downloaded program files (C:\Windows\Downloaded Program Files, assuming C is your system drive).
