Thread: performance issues with winxp patches?

    im going to reformat my xp pro machine. i am upgrading to teh new 3200+ and cool xms mem. this version of xp has SP1. what should i do that might harm performance possibilities. i mean is there any updates from windows update that i shouldn't upddate to and plus what other types od software shouldn't i put on which could harm the performance potential of my machine. this worries me a little bit because machine being unstable in the past???

    11682 marks=xp best performance settings @ 2500+ 166mhz x 11.0X = 1.83GIG

    when i do windows update for my machine i do all the critical updates.

    if ive got a problem, ill look through the recommended updates for any ones that might fix it and choose them also.

    yeah always install critical updates

    be a bit care of windows drivers - there not always the best to use

    have a look at the recommended updates, if you'll use it, get it otherwise don't bother
