Can anyone help ? I have gotten a new PC with windows XP. No one can connect to my IP addy. If I go to my old PC, which is windows 98se, and hook my cable modem to it. Now everyone can connect to my IP. Is there something in XP not allowing IP connections ? Any help will be appretiated.

you may want to check XP's built in firewall.
What do you mean by 'connect to your IP'? What are you trying to do, specifically?

In the game you have the option to connect to an IP address. You just type it in the multiplayer section and the IP addy is the host. How do you access the XP firewall ? I didnt know it had one !

    Contol Panel\Network Connections
Right Click your Connection and select Properties. You should see a tab for your firewall. You can disable or customize it there.

However, if you are behind a router with a hardware filrewall you will need to access it and open the appropriate ports

go on your local network connection properties, click on advanced and there should be a tab 2 turn xp firewall on and off.

also a good test is to ping the ip from another machine on the network.
