    I forgot to mention that another thing which seems to add to startup RAM usage is adware/spyware. Doing a full scan with Adaware or Spybot (or both) to regularly remove this crap will reduce your startup RAM usage.

    And of course after any major system changes like installation of new drivers and/or new devices, a good run through the maintenance procedure at the end of my XP guide (especially the Bootvis step) will speed up bootup AND reduce startup commit charge.

    Ad-Aware has been in my sig if anyone needs it. I don't think I went through the last couple portions of the guide after I reformatted. I think I'll go take a look again, just in case.
