Hey I just wanted to know is that since Microsoft does not offer Microsoft Virtual Machine anymore......and it says to download java from java.com. I went to that webiste but unfortunately the download does not work. So I went ahead and downloaded Microsoft Virtual Machine from a different website. My question is that since Microsoft does not offer it anymorte...and I still downloaded it...would that be a problem? or will Microsoft give me any problem? Thank You

I have an old install file of that same application myself and use it every time I do a fresh install. Not only that, once you install it and reboot, you can go to the Windows Update page and it will offer you a critical update that fixes a vulnerability in the application. Microsoft will still keep it up to date, but they stopped offering it for download since there were some legal issues between them and the makers of the Java app.

Make sure you patch it with the fix on win update like darthtanion said. Some early versions of xp sp1 have the ms vm.

Sun's Java download page is working again, so that option is still available

As darthtanion said, the ms vm is still suported via win update, and the sun is not. It is not considered in win update therefore, security can be an issue with sun java. And has shown this before with the byte verify virus. (6 customers machines is too many)
