Default Installing Windows 98SE over Windows 98 without the Upgrade CD

    You need:
-the Windows 98SE CD (the shiny one with the hologram on the top)
    -the Windows 98SE Floppy Disk

    In Windows 98:
    Restart in MS-DOS

    After restarting in DOS:
Type “CD Windows” (if the command prompt isn’t already at “C:\Windows”)
    Type “Del”

Insert the Windows 98SE Floppy Disk and CD before rebooting. The Setup program should load automatically…

Setup will ask you whether you want to install to “C:\Windows.000” or “Other”
    Select “Other” then click “Next”
Setup will want you to specify a location to install Windows 98SE
Type in “C:\Windows” as the location
    Continue through the Setup program.

After doing this, I found that my settings from Windows 98 were still intact, including the list of scheduled tasks. None of my software was lost and the drivers did not have to be reinstalled.
