Unhappy Popups on new install of XP

    Win XP Pro, SP1.

Fresh install with new MB, and I'm getting popups. (see attachment)
I already reinstalled windows a second time because of this issue, but it's still happening. The only software that I've installed (apart from NAV corp edition) is the 3 main device drivers for the new Gigabyte MB (GA-81G1000MK)

You wouldn't imagine this software would contain popups like this?
The first install I used the drivers that came with the m/b CD.
The second install I downloaded fresh ones from gigybyte.

The popups suggest that I have a virus and to go to one of various dodgy websites like www.windows-update.org.

I have run Spybot S&D and adaware without luck.
NAV full system scan returns nothing.

    What can I do?

    Joey

Go to Services.msc (Start > Run > Services.msc) and disable the Messenger service. Then either go buy a router or some other sort of hardware firewall or get Zone Alarm from my signature.

Taa, just realised what the problem was. (I had read of this before)

    No more reinstalls for me!
    How embarrassing.
