    How do I enable the "show desktop" icon on my taskbar in winXP? In previous OS this icon is always on the left of the taskbar. What the icon does is it automatically minimizes all open windows so you can see the desktop. I find this simple tool invaluable.

    It should be there by default. If it got deleted, make a shortcut to the following location and just drag into the taskbar...

    "C:\Documents and Settings\Default User\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\Show Desktop.scf"

    same here the quick launch folder isnt in that location on mine. but if you replace default user with your username it should be there. mine for example is: C:\Documents and Settings\Birdy\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch

    If the file doesnt exist at all you can create it yourself by making a file called "Show Dektop.scf" and open it in notepad and put the following contents in it:
    [Shell]
    Command=2
    IconFile=explorer.exe,3

    [Taskbar]
    Command=ToggleDesktop

    Right click the taskbar, go to toolbars and click on quick launch. Easy, and it's never there by default unless you are using an upgrade disk and you had it enabled b4 in 98/Me/2k
