## XP PRO hangs for 2 min. upon boot

A few months ago, a problem cropped up with my comp where once the computer was booted, My Computer could not be accessed for a period of time around two minutes, and the Start menu would crash if kept open for too long. All this would revert to normal after a while. Any attempts to use applications that require a CD to be in the drive also hanged. Comp could not be shut down through windows either. It seems like a driver issue, perhaps for an IDE drive. It isn't a big deal anymore, but when I want to just look up info quickly on a fresh boot, I have to twiddle my thumbs/drink Fresca. Specs:

Windows XP Pro
Abit NF7 [rev. 1]
AMD Athlon XP 2500+ oc'ed to 2.0GHz [multiplier locked, FSB not]
512 megs of some buffalo crap.... 2700
Sapphire 9600 Pro ATLANTIS
SB Audigy 2
Sony DVD-ROM
Lite-on CDRW

I have a similar problem.
The first time I log on to my computer running XP home, it will hang.
The mouse and keyboard still work, but any programs wont start until about 2 minutes later.

I found a fix for mine:
Boot into safemode (not networking support), and right click "My computer" and select manage.
Go to services and applications, and disable the IPv6 internet connection firewall service.

As a temporary fix:
Log on, when it hangs press "windows key + l", unplug a USB device and then plug it back in.
My computer always seems to jerk back into action when I do this.

Obviously, there are many reasons why it might hang, I normally find its down to a faulty service or startup item, so try typing msconfig at run.

Hope this helps anyway
