    Default urgent help please

hey everyone, my computer has been out of order for days now. i cant go on there and study my tafe/college work because its not working..! the problem is..

when i turn the computer on, it passes the screen when its detecting cd drives etc, then it goes to the
    'Windows XP Professional'
    (Loading bar)

it freezes after the little blue thing does afew laps of the loading bar.. i dont get it. ive tried repairing windows off safe mode but stupid me forgot that setup cannot complete off safe mode. ive tried system restores.. virus scans.. its hopeless. can someone tell me what to do. F8 doesnt boot off cd. it just gives me the option to go to safe mode w/ or w/o networking etc etc. is there another command? help please!

From the F8 screen do you have the option to boot from "last known good"? Maybe give that option a try.

If you want to try a "windows repair" directly from your Windows XP disk then you may have to go into your bios and set the boot order so that it looks to the cd rom before the hard drive.

If you are having trouble finding out how to enter your bios check out this page: http://www.cyberwalker.net/faqs/rein...nter-BIOS.html

Be aware that this procedure is not without risk of losing data and that (if I'm not mistaken) you will have to reinstall all windows updates.

Someone here may be able to offer a less intrusive method of solving your problem if you want to wait for more qualified help.
