Default Windows XP doesn't shut down

I just formated and clean installed Windows XP Pro SP2 and all the latest updates from Microsoft on an old Asus A7V333. Everything works fine, except that 8 out of 10 times the PC wont shut down, it stays on the "Windows is shutting down" message forever. What can be causing this?

Is there any log I can check to see what software or service is causing the problem?
