    Default DirectX 9.0c Problems

I trying to play Full Spectrum Warrior and i came across a problem, the game requires directx 9.0c, which isnt a big deal, but when i try to run the game it gives me a direct 3D error saying "directx 9.0c must be installed", i went to THQ's support site and emailed my problem i sent my DxDiag to them and they said that i should reinstall directx 9.0c, ive downloaded the redistributable of 9.0c but whenever i try to install it, it finishes in seconds and doesnt really install. THQ support highlighted some things in red in my dxdiag here they are...

DirectX Files Tab: The file system.dll is missing! The file d3d9d.dll is an old version, which could cause problems. Several files (d3dx8d.dll, d3dx9d.dll, d3d9d.dll, etc.) are debug versions, which will run slower than the retail version. You should reinstall DirectX to get the latest version. Display Tab 1: Hardware-accelerated Direct3D 9 is not available because the display driver does not support it. You may be able to get a newer driver from the hardware manufacturer.

    Current Mode: 1024 x 768 (32 bit) (85Hz)

    Incase you need it...
    512MB Ram
    AMD Athlon XP 2400+, MMX, 3DNow 2.0ghz
    Geforce FX 5700 VE 256mb

it says i have directx9.0c installed but evidently i the wrong files or something..

    any help would be appreciated

If you're running WinXP you might try rolling back to a date before you installed the new DirectX. This isn't a guarantee, but it may work. From there I'd download the DirectX driver package again from a different source and try one more time to install it.

Another option if Darthtanion's plan don't work out is DirectX Eradicator: http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=626 . As I understand it this program will remove your current DirectX files so that you can do a fresh install. I haven't tried it myself but it might be worth a shot. It would prolly be a good idea to do a backup before using. Good luck.

Also make sure you have the latest Nvidia drivers. Uninstall those too and download the newest ones.
